The other night...

I was told I needed to update my Blog. I didn't realize that it had been so long since I had posted anything. Sorry!

Once again I have a million (give or take a few) things to post, so I will do it in an orderly fashion:

1. My grandparents are now living in a nursing home... and it's all my fault. I tried to call my Grandma to see how she was feeling and while she was walking to the phone she fell and broke her ankle in two places. She has to have surgery Tuesday to put pins and a plate in her ankle.

My mom and Aunt used this as a chance to get them into a nursing home, which really is the best thing for them. But they don't want to be there, so it is hard for them. I think once they are there for a bit they will see that it really is the best place for them. My Grandpa is knee deep in Alzheimer's and my Grandma just can't take care of him.
We were going to go down to Ohio on Tuesday to be there for the surgery and stay through Easter, but I just don't want to be away from home that long.

2. OM- Saturday was the Regional competition for Odyssey of the Mind. On the way there, Ethan vomited all over himself, and continued to do so off and on all day. He wasn't able to do the spontaneous problem, and wasn't even able to go with his team for the long term problem. Luckily, Betsy took his place as "Super Mime", and they did pretty good!

Unfortunately, they performed their long term problem in a different building, so I had to pretty much abandon Cindy. Ethan spent his whole day sleeping in the cafeteria, and I just didn't feel comfortable leaving the building. It really sucks because I really wanted to see them perform.

Once we got their score, Ethan started to feel better, so we thought it was nerves. When he spent all day Sunday in bed with an upset tummy, we knew it wasn't just nerves.

My Division 3 team did great, too. They were the only team in Div. 3 with their problem, so as long as they got their 75 points (really easy to do in a dramatic problem) they moved on to state finals. They got gold medals and got to walk in front of everyone so they could cheer. They all loved it, but of course Colleen and I felt like dorks, because we knew that we were the only team... of course we took 1st place!! That's ok... the kids thought it was great and that's all that matters.

We did find out that they took the second highest score of the whole competition, so that's pretty cool too.

My mom is coming up for the State Finals, so Christian is a little nervous now. lol

3. Today we are going to the nursing home with our homeschool group for an Easter egg hunt. Christian isn't going and is hoping Adam can come over and play video games. Otherwise he is stuck playing video games with his dad, and that's just not cool or fun!

4. We went to Belle Isle Aquarium yesterday. It is really a neat place. Too bad they are closing it. We went to the Whitcomb Conservatory, too. Found out they have a big flower sale every year. Might have to check that out!

When we first moved up here we were told by more than a few people not to go to Belle Isle. I guess in the summer it isn't the safest place to be, because all of the high school kids go hang out there. That's a shame, too, because it is a really neat place. I can imagine it would be a great place to hang out in the summer.

I am sure there is more, but I need to get into the shower if I am going to make it to the nursing home!

Hiya Christa, I just stumbled onto your blog and really like what you have to say. I noticed that you are in the Belle Isle area. I am in the area of the city of Warren. I can't believe they are going to close the aquarium i have been going there since i was a little girl. Belle Isle is a little scary in the summer. But great to go thru in the winter and feed the deer.
Anyways i hope to read your blog often and comment whenever possible. If you would like you can stop by my blog. Have a great day.
